Matt Damon Says Harvey Weinstein’s ‘Womanizer’ Ways Was ‘None of My Business’

Matt Damon admits that he actually had been aware of at least one of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment claims. Earlier this month, the actor said it’s “not true” that everyone knew about the accusations. Now Damon said he just didn’t know Weinstein went to such levels to satisfy himself.

“When people say everybody knew, yeah, I knew he was an a–hole. He was proud of that. That’s how he carried himself,” Damon says on Good Morning America with George Clooney Monday, Oct. 23. “And I knew he was a womanizer. I wouldn’t want to be married to the guy, but, like, that’s not my business, really. But this level of criminal sexual predation is not something that I ever thought was going on. Absolutely not. read more

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — The head of the U.N. health agency has revoked his appointment of Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe as a “goodwill ambassador” after the choice drew widespread outrage and criticism.

World Health Organization director-general Tedros Ghebreyesus last week told a conference in Uruguay on non-communicable diseases that Mugabe had agreed to be a “goodwill ambassador” on the issue. Mugabe was present at the announcement.

After a flood of outrage and concern was voiced by international leaders and health experts on Mugabe’s appointment, Tedros said in a statement Sunday that he had “reflected” over the past few days and “decided to rescind the appointment.” read more

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Former White House adviser Steve Bannon depicted former President George W. Bush as bumbling and inept, faulting him for presiding over a “destructive” presidency during his time in the White House.

Bannon’s scathing remarks on Friday night amounted to a retort to a Bush speech in New York earlier this week, in which the 43rd president denounced bigotry in Trump-era American politics and warned that the rise of “nativism,” isolationism and conspiracy theories have clouded the nation’s true identity. read more

NEW YORK (AP) — Fox News Channel has removed a false story from its website, saying it was duped by an artist the network highlighted as a Vietnam veteran, a member of the first U.S. Navy SEAL team and a much-decorated war hero.

The report, which aired Oct. 8, focused on 72-year-old glass artist John Garofalo, who “despite health issues” emerged from semi-retirement to create a four-foot-high, 150-pound glass-and-bronze presidential seal he said he hoped to present to President Donald Trump. read more

School leaders’ lack of action after a number of racially charged incidents on the campus of Boston College prompted hundreds of students to walk out of their classes Wednesday, Oct. 18, in protest.

Over the weekend, two Black Lives Matter posters in a residence hall were defaced to read “Black Lives DON’T Matter,” while a photo with racial slurs posted to Snapchat made its way around the campus community, CBS Boston reported. School officials say police are looking into both matters and assured students that such racist acts would be dealt with. read more

Obstacles Kaepernick Faces with Grievance Claim, and His Alternative If It Fails

Let’s assume that Colin Kaepernick is better than several quarterbacks — backups, and even starters — who have managed to find jobs on NFL rosters this season.

(He is.)

And let’s also say that teams refused to sign Kaepernick not because he isn’t good enough, but because he decided to kneel during the national anthem to protest racial injustice in America.

(That, too.)

It still isn’t enough for the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback to win the grievance he filed against the NFL on Sunday. To prove collusion, Kaepernick will need hard evidence that owners worked together — rather than decided individually — to keep him out of the league. read more
